#ShowYourShabby

I'm still here, surviving the winter in Utah. Actually this winter has been amazingly mild and I keep pretending it's spring. David and I went on a double date the other night, first to check out the new Shabby Apple store at the Fashion Place mall and then to dinner.

I've drooled over Shabby Apple dresses online for a while and it was fun to actually try some on. David has a thing for a-line skirts, while my personal style is more form fitting pencil skirts. But I have to concede that a-line dresses flatter just about everyone including me. So some of these dresses are his picks.

I didn't buy one, but I think I'm going to- which should I go for?

The KimK dress
I've been drooling over the slate-grey dress version of this dress online. I didn't realize that it created curves on a curve-less model so on me it just emphasized things and I felt very Kim Kardashian in it (minus the butt... I have no booty). But I love the sleeve and dress length and it was soooo comfortable.

 The princess dress
This dress is kind of shimmery up close. I probably couldn't wear it to work so that kind of lessens the appeal for me, but it did make me feel like I was playing dress up in a really pretty dress. It would be a church dress only purchase.

 Summertime Schoolgirl
I loved the weight of the fabric- it felt really light and flowy. I also loved the pockets in the front of this dress. It felt like a fun spring/summer dress; I can imagine it with some really cute wedges.

 Polkadot Dress
I think I tried on the wrong size, but I still don't know if I would have fallen in love with it. It felt a little candy striper to me. I wanted to love it though, with it's pockets and polka dots. The fabric felt kind of heavy like canvas, it might have worked better in a lighter fabric.

I don't know if it's cheating showing me wearing clothes I don't actually own, but hey, it's fun to shop!

California Weather

For real California sun? It's February and over 70 degrees here. What is the deal? With this heat, comes skirts and light sweaters. Cute, buuuuut I like the cold a lot. I just want to wear boots all the time! Is that too much to ask??

Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays!!!

I love Christmas!!! (and if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you are having a wonderful wintery holiday season). I am about to leave to head to a family dinner, but I thought I'd show you what I was wearing today.

1) Excuse the mess on the floor.

2) I am extremely proud that I curled my hair (it happens maybe 2-3 times a year), and did a full face of makeup.

3) I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

Plaid

I don't know if I've told you all this... but I LOVE plaid. It makes me so happy.
Picture 1: Yes, that is a pile of Christmas presents already wrapped on the floor. (I am SUPER prepared this time of year.)

Sparse

Hey Em! Sorry my lack of posting, we just moved our booties down to our basement apartment and it has been crazy. We're listing the house for rent today. I don't have my mirror hung up quite yet so here's a picture David took of me last month on our way to a family dinner I think.

Since then I've gotten a hair cut and some highlights so I'll have to take a picture of that soon.

What Jacket Dilemma??

Dearest La,

Sorry you have a jean jacket dilemma. I on the other hand, do not.

Sincerely,
Em

It makes me laugh that Laura and I have very similar buying habits. Jean jacket from Old Navy? Yep, I have one too.

Not going to lie, I am amazed I pulled this look off at 5:30am on a Monday morning. Normally I just pull on some jeans and a cute top, because, who likes Mondays?

Yellow

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of yellow. It's too bright or something. However, I do have a yellow sweater and a yellow belt that need to be put to use occasionally. So I tried to cut the bright with some neutral black and white.

I also mixed stripes and polka dots- baby steps right? haha, if you have to think about your outfit does that disqualify you from being considered stylish automatically?
