Memorial Weekend

Here's a quick peak of my Memorial weekend. We went to Scottsdale, AZ for an annual family reunion. I didn't get any real outfit pictures except for our time at the "train park", as our family calls it. It was fun spending time at the pool with family all weekend.

Awkward windy dress shot... sorry it's all I got ;)

Heat Wave

Memorial Day is seeing some serious heat in Southern California, which isn't new. I'm spending today having a barbecue with my family and enjoying their company.
Some seriously exciting things have happened in the past week: I graduated college and got a job as a 4th grade teacher. Plus my birthday is in four days... and I LOVE my birthday.
I also decided to do something crazy. I am never a risk taker, nor do I do crazy things, but I decided to get my nose pierced. It's a long story on why I decided to do it and it wasn't planned, but I actually really like it. The good thing is it's not permanent so if I don't like it later on, I can take it out.
I hope all of you are enjoying your long holiday weekends, hopefully not in the heat.

Feeling Blue

These are my only pair of shorts and I love them. So comfortable and they are nice enough that I get away with them at work. And can you tell my favorite color is blue?

David teases me about my addiction to blue and white striped shirts. So if you see me wearing more don't be surprised. This outfit reminds me of Em because the bows on the wedges and my shirt; she's kind of a bow addict.

Shorts: no idea but I wish I knew!

#tbt

Let's rewind back to 2010.

Two of the many pictures that sum up our friendship, both taken senior year of high school. Throughout high school we had a few classes together, and I'm almost positive that in every one of those classes the teacher was always confusing the two of us. It must be because we are so charmingly cute, right? As you can see, we were a big fan of the hair-stache. Even though we are several states apart, Laura is on my list of favorite people and will remain there for a very long time.

Alrighty, done being sentimental. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday.

Hand wash only

This is my "classy" shirt. I'm kind of in love with it. The down side was that I was so in love with it I actually read the garment care instructions an discovered it was hand wash only... That lasted a few months and then I finally just thew it in the washer. It's totally fine of course and reminded me that just about everything can be washed.

Do you have clothes that are special to you for whatever reason and then you realize they are just clothes?

You can take the girl out of the country...

...but you can't take the country out of the girl, or at least that's how I feel when I wear my cowboy boots. Even though I was raised for most of my life in California, there is still plenty of the south in me: I love my cowboy boots, I am all for a rodeo, and I pretty much live by country music. Luke Bryan, anyone? Tonight begins the birthday celebrations. I turn 22 in ten days but one of my closest friends just had her birthday so we are celebrating together with a big group of our mutual friends. Let's hope things don't get too crazy.

Take #1

So this was my first shot at this whole selfie in the closet thing. I totally need to clean the mirror... ha. And I look totally mad or something but I'm actually just concentrating on how to do this.

Anyways I love this lacy shirt- not a surprise because I'm a lace addict. This outfit works for the Utah spring- it can get a little cold still but I'm tired of boots and closed toe shoes.

Entering the Big Girl World

As an almost college graduate (6 days and counting)... I have officially started applying for jobs and it is a daunting task. However, on the plus side it gives me an excuse to get dressed up and look very professional which is always fun. The awesome part is my mom has a sweet closet so half of this outfit is hers. (Thanks Mom!) Because I am so short, I am a big fan of skinny trousers and I own a pair in almost every neutral color.

This particular interview went very well if you are curious. It was for a charter school about 20 minutes north of my house. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I move on to the next step of the interview process with them.... only time will tell.

Sorry about the tiny mirror, that situation will be fixed soon. Promise.

The Struggle

My work is pretty casual. Partly because the call center is at corporate and all those employees are super laid back. Most of the management team wears jeans all the time as well. I've been trying to maintain a good balance so I look polished without being too formal. I struggle because I want to define myself as a professional in a place that often can seem pretty casual.

Today I wore a casual chambray shirt with a less casual pencil skirt and sandals. My friend at work told me I looked fancy so I guess it worked. I was on the fence about tucking the shirt in but I think it was okay.
